About Us – Tennessee Valley Fibers
It’s all about my heritage. I grew up on a working farm in North Georgia. My mother and grandmother did it all. Only as I got older did I realize my advantage in a home where we had to help do and be under a mother who was always busy and made sure that we were busy. My mother got a pile of what looked like it was just for the firewood, but no it was the beginning of her weaving industry. Everyone helped.
We went to the library and she got many books, searching through them to figure out how the pieces should fit to make this massive loom. This was one of the huge big floor looms. I was six years old, when she let me weave runners for my ” what not”. My mother explained to me the importance and effect of color when it is just side by side or how it changes when woven in and out and over other colors, how. I was a toy designer for years with two original toy designs in the Smithsonian. I majored in Home Economics and Art.
